Warning and Advisory Services for offshore E&P industries (DG HC)"
on 11 - 12 July, 2023
Organized by
International Training Centre for Operational Oceanography (ITCOocean)
INCOIS, Hyderabad, India

Overview:

The current course will provide exposure to the officers working with Directorate General of Hydrocarbon (DGH) and Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD), on the various services developed and products being disseminated by INCOIS to various operational requirements.

INCOIS has been generating and disseminating operational services like Ocean State Forecast (OSF), Tsunami and Strom Surges, Search And Rescue Aid Tool (SARAT) for supporting search and rescue operations in the sea, in case of any untoward incidents in the sea; Online Oil Spill Advisory (OOSA) system for providing oil spill trajectory forecast during oil spill incidents.

INCOIS provides regular ocean state forecasts (winds, waves, currents, tides) covering the geographical region of their interests by various agencies. This is also provided routinely, for movement of their vehicles in the ocean. The process involved in generating these operational products and the method to analyse them and how to apply this information by those working in offshore under the DGH is presented during the training. Condensed information on application of all operational products is also provided.

All the trainees will be taken to various labs to get exposure to the operational services in real time. This will be helpful to the officers, who are going to be placed in various operations of DGH. The course is designed to be a mix of Lab visits and theoretical sessions, covering the areas of interest.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Over view of INCOIS activities.
  • Understand the data and products on ocean state forecast for operations.
  • Understanding the Ocean State Forecasting system and their coastal applications.
  • Exposure to disaster related products and services of INCOIS.
  • Coastal vulnerability maps generation along with inundation along the coast of India.
  • Lab visits to various operational divisions of INCOIS.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Knowledge and understanding of INCOIS services and products.
  • Capability to use the web based software independently from their centres.
  • Handling the specialised tools developed for operational use if need arise.

Target Audience:

Target audience is limited to the following:
