Data Management involves processing, preservation and visualization of data. It involves providing access to high quality measured and modeled data, along with analysis tools to the end users. It enable the management of data from disparate sources and in varying formats, which may include structured and unstructured data, point based measurements, from ocean observations and satellite remote sensing observations and more.
This course is aimed at researchers to provide a comprehensive introduction to a variety of oceanographic datasets and formats and the use of software for visualization and analysis of oceanographic data. The importance of good research data management practices and some application of well managed data will also be highlighted.
- Provide an introduction to Data Management.
- Introduction to the metadata, formats, quality control.
- Introduction to value added products, visualization of data.
- Introduction to Open Source S/Ws for data analysis and visualization
Target audiences include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Early research students.
- Early career professionals working on Ocean science, and who wish to learn fundamentals of Data Management.
