The Ministry of Mines, Govt. of India has conferred the National Geoscience Awards -2010 on five scientists from the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) under the category 'Disaster Management'. The award was given for the establishment, development and management of the Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) at Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad.
The awardees are Dr. Tummala Srinivasa Kumar, Shri B. V. Satyanarayana, Shri Ch. Patanjali Kumar, Ms. M. V. Sunanda, Shri B. Ajay Kumar from INCOIS, Dr. M. V. Ramana Murthy and Shri Tata Sudhakar from National Institute of Ocean Technology, Chennai and Shri G. Suresh from India Meteorological Department, New Delhi.
The awards were given by the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Smt. Meira Kumar, in a special award presentation ceremony held on 16th February, 2012 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The award carries a cash prize, trophy, certificate and citation.
