Dr. Chodavarapu Patanjali Kumar was honored with 'The Best Research Award' for his exceptional research in the Disaster Management Policy Program, specifically the Tsunami Disaster Mitigation Course for 2022-2023 during the Closing Ceremony held on Sep 12-13, 2023. This recognition came from both the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (政策研究大学院大学, Seisaku Kenkyū Daigakuin Daigaku) - GRIPS and the Building Research Institute (建築研究所, Kenchikukenkyūsho) - BRI in Japan. His research was focused on the GNSS network in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. His pivotal thesis was titled 'Rapid Determination of Tsunamigenic Source Parameters and Real-time Inundation Modelling for TEWS.' Furthermore, Dr. Kumar was invited for a courtesy call by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan. He also had the honor of meeting the esteemed Minister Saito Tetsuo, along with other participants from the fields of Seismology, Earthquake Engineering, and Tsunami Disaster Mitigation for 2022-2023 on 10 Sep 2023.
In addition to these achievements, Dr. Patanjali Kumar received a Master's degree (MS) in Disaster Management, with a special focus on 'Scientific Software Development and Data Science Applications'. Remarkably, he was the first participant from India in the said program.
His Excellency Saito Tetsuo, the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism of Japan, extended his congratulations to all participants upon completing the course.
